Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the two pie charts and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the dominance of work in both years and noted the shifts in other categories. However, the analysis is slightly hampered by some inaccuracies in data interpretation; for instance, you stated that 'travelling to work' was the least preferred in 1958, but the chart shows 'sport' was actually lower. Additionally, the description of the 2008 data is slightly confusing regarding the 'least preferred' category. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited with absolute precision and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific percentages provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'overall,' 'conversely,' 'although,' and 'whereas' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'the statistics changed overall although working dominance is unchanged.' The referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within the second body paragraph could be smoother. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'dominant,' 'engaged,' and 'statistics.' There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or phrasing, such as 'sport playing activity' instead of 'playing sports' and 'best adopted' which is not the most appropriate collocation here. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more academic collocations and refining your use of descriptive verbs will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as '33% adults are engaged' (should be '33% of adults were engaged') and 'two times of travelling' (should be 'twice as much as travelling'). Tense consistency is also an issue, as you switch between present and past tenses when describing historical data. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and maintaining consistent past tense when discussing historical data.
