Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the main trends and comparisons. You successfully identified the increase in work and relaxing time, as well as the decrease in sleep and socialising. However, the analysis is slightly mechanical, listing figures rather than synthesising the data into a more cohesive narrative. To reach a higher band, ensure you group related data more effectively and provide a more nuanced overview of the shifts. For example, noting that work and work-related travel both increased while social time decreased would provide a stronger analytical perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'As for', and 'While', which help the flow of information. However, the paragraphing is somewhat unbalanced, with a very short overview and a dense body section. The transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus, which will help the reader follow your argument more effortlessly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrate', 'significant changes', and 'declined'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'took a sharp increase of 13 percent' (it should be 'an increase to' or 'an increase of 5 percent') and 'took a huge change'. The phrasing 'percentage of adult's various activities' is also slightly awkward. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations for describing statistical trends and ensure your terminology is grammatically accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'except the playing sports' (should be 'except for playing sports') and 'engaged in physical activities' (should be 'engaging in'). Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error in 'significant raise ,'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions to enhance the accuracy of your writing.
