Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data and makes relevant comparisons. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear overview. While you identified the highest categories, the summary could be improved by grouping the data more effectively to highlight trends rather than just listing percentages. Some information is slightly repetitive or confusingly phrased, such as the comparison regarding 'travelling to work' and 'going out'. To improve, ensure you synthesise the data to show the 'big picture'—for example, noting that work-related time increased while leisure-related time decreased significantly over the 50-year period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Now, relaxing at home...' is an inappropriate transition for a data report, and 'Morever' is misspelled. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel a bit stilted. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely') more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely heavily on basic verbs like 'spent' and 'accounted for'. There are also several errors in word choice and form, such as 'was occupy by' (should be 'was occupied by') and 'doing travelling' (should be 'travelling'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms for data reporting, such as 'constituted,' 'represented,' or 'allocated.' Additionally, ensure you are using the correct word forms (e.g., nouns vs. verbs) to avoid awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the highest percentage... was occupy'), missing articles, and punctuation errors (e.g., missing spaces after commas and periods). The sentence 'adults spent less time in 2008 was on going out' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors like missing 'the' or incorrect verb tenses, which currently detract from the overall quality of your writing.
