Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response provides a clear overview and identifies key trends, such as the increase in working hours and the decrease in time spent with family. However, the report lacks precision in data selection. For instance, it mentions 'travelling' in the overview, yet this category is not clearly analyzed or compared in the body paragraphs. Furthermore, the description of the data is sometimes imprecise, such as stating 'plenty of hours' instead of using the specific percentage provided. To reach a higher band, ensure all categories mentioned in the charts are addressed and use data more accurately to support your observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Consequently', 'Furthermore', and 'By looking at other factors', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'By looking other factors', which lacks a preposition. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. Phrases like 'whole trend changes' and 'time consumption' are slightly unnatural in this context. There is some repetition of basic verbs like 'spent' and 'increases'. While the student successfully uses terms like 'percentage' and 'constant', the range is limited. To improve, the student should incorporate more sophisticated collocations related to data description, such as 'witnessed a significant rise' or 'remained stable', rather than relying on simple descriptive language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('of specific country', 'in particular country') and subject-verb agreement issues ('sleeping percentage remain decreasing', 'relaxing time... have shown'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on article usage and verb tense consistency would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
