The pie charts below show how working adults in a particular country spent their time in 1958 and 2008.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The charts depict the different ways of time spent by employed individuals in a particular country in the years 1958 and 2008 respectively.

Overall, in both the years it was observed people spent most of their time working and sleeping, while significant amount of time was spent for going out with family or friends in 1958, in 2008 several other components took major portion of adult life.

Firstly, working and sleeping were recorded at the highest proportion of adult's time at 33% and 32% each, while going out with family and friends accounted to 19%. Conversely, relaxing at home and commuting to work were projected to be the least time spent for at 8 and 2% respectively.

In 2008, the percentage of time spent working took an increase to 42% while the time allocated to sleep took a drop to 25%. Spending time with family and friends declined to 6% with a slight incline to 13% for relaxing at home. Furthermore, people spent more time traveling to work in 2008 which rose to 7% which was the same ratio as time allocated to playing sports.
