Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to summarize the two pie charts showing how adults spent their time in 1958 and 2008. However, there are significant issues with data interpretation and task fulfillment. For instance, the text claims that '35% teens are on working mode', which misinterprets the category and population specified in the prompt (working adults). Furthermore, key information is vague, and comparisons between the two years lack precision. While the student attempts to highlight main features such as family time and working hours, the overall selection and reporting of data are limited and lack clarity. This places the response in the lower-intermediate range according to the official descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization of the text is severely hindered by a lack of proper punctuation, capitalization, and paragraphing. The entire response reads as a continuous run-on block with minimal structural division, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Although some basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'firstly', 'furthermore', and 'on other hand', their usage is often awkward and repetitive. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall arrangement fails to present a clear, logically structured overview of the visual data. This reflects the characteristics of Band 4.0 in coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and frequently inappropriate for an academic task. Phrases like 'quality time on individuals', 'on working mode', and 'betterment of their livings' demonstrate a lack of precision and poor collocation control. There are also noticeable word-choice errors that strain the reader's understanding, such as using 'teens' instead of 'adults' and confusing 'decrease' with past tense verbs. While the writer attempts some less common words, the frequent inaccuracies in vocabulary restrict the score to Band 4.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. The text is characterized by a complete absence of periods, commas, and capital letters, resulting in massive run-on sentences that blur the boundaries of clauses. There are frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure, such as 'the situation entirely different' (missing verb) and 'peoples have to go'. Complex structures are attempted but are generally faulty and lack proper punctuation. These persistent, intrusive errors heavily impede communication and place the response at Band 4.0.
