Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, standing at 146 words, which leads to a necessary penalty under Task Achievement. While the student attempts to summarise the main features, several data points are misread or inaccurately reported. For example, the text claims that spending time with friends and close ones showed a drastic change to a negative side by 30 percent, whereas the charts show a decrease from 19 percent to 6 percent (a 13 percent drop). Additionally, the overview contains vague and inaccurate generalisations rather than a clear summary of the main trends. The response touches upon most categories across the two years, but the underdeveloped data reporting and failure on word count limit the score to a Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, consisting mostly of isolated, choppy sentences and short paragraphs that fail to develop a clear logical progression. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as 'cycling with gradually increase' or awkward transitions between sentences. The relationship between ideas is often unclear, particularly in the concluding sentence which offers a vague statement rather than summarising the data cohesively. While the overall arrangement attempts to contrast 1958 and 2008, the mechanical layout and poor referencing pull the score down to a Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is somewhat limited and repetitive, with several unnatural collocations and word choices. Examples include 'timely distribution', 'working took almost a half part', and 'working ties'. Spelling and grammatical form errors are also present, such as 'daay' and 'increase' used instead of the noun form 'increase'. While the student attempts less common vocabulary like 'mobility' and 'drastic', inaccuracies in word choice and lexical control restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent grammatical errors. Examples of errors include 'The given charts... shows' (subject-verb agreement error), 'working took almost a half part of a daay cycling with gradually increase', and 'Mobility in work increase to 7 percent from 2 percent is the maximum change'. Punctuation is largely absent or misused, and run-on structures appear without proper demarcation. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar with a Band 5.0.
