Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by selecting and reporting the main features of the two pie charts. A clear overview is provided, noting that working time was the highest in both years. Key comparisons are made, such as the increase in working hours from 33% in 1958 to 42% in 2008, and the decrease in sleeping hours from 32% to 25%. However, there are minor data omissions and inaccuracies, such as missing the mention of playing sports in 2008 entirely, and slight mechanical errors in reporting details like 'Going out with family and friends has reduces to 6% respectively'. Nevertheless, the key trends are appropriately identified and supported with figures from the charts. Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is arranged coherently with a clear overall progression from an introduction to an overview, followed by body paragraphs detailing the data for each year. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division between paragraphs could be structured more logically. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or faulty (e.g., 'For year 1958', 'This activities holds smaller time'). Referencing is mostly clear, though some abrupt transitions exist between sentences. Overall arrangement is logical enough to allow easy reading, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic percentages and activities such as 'working', 'sleeping', and 'relaxing at home'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary and synonyms like 'surged', 'invested', and 'consumed', but these are occasionally affected by word-choice or collocation errors (e.g., 'time invested in working tend to the highest', 'Time counsumed by sleeping'). Spelling errors are present (e.g., 'counsumed', 'amd'). The lexical range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'The dual pie chart compares...' and 'Time counsumed by sleeping reduced to 25% from 32% but it still remains on second place...'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including missing spacing after punctuation marks, subject-verb agreement issues ('time invested... tend'), article omissions ('in year 1958'), and incorrect verb forms ('has reduces'). While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they prevent the text from achieving a higher grammatical score.
