Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The student attempts to cover both charts, noting key changes such as working hours increasing from 33% to 42% and sleeping decreasing from 32% to 25%. However, the overview lacks a clear, overarching summary of the main trends (such as the shift from socialising to work and domestic relaxation). There are minor inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, grouping working and travelling together as 'one third' in 1958 or combining multiple categories in 2008 without precise individual breakdowns. While the response satisfies the basic requirements of selecting and reporting main features, the lack of a distinct overview and some vague data groupings place it at Band 6.0 according to official descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is divided into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs for 1958 and 2008 respectively. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'In contrast'), though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are misused (e.g., 'At last', 'After that'). Paragraphing is generally sufficient and appropriate, though the final paragraph mixes several distinct categories ('loved once', 'playing different sports') in a somewhat cluttered manner. Progression is visible, but referencing and logical flow can be sharpened to reach a higher band level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common collocations such as 'leisure activities', 'spare time', and 'work place'. However, there are noticeable word-choice errors and typos throughout the text, such as 'working adults' written as 'a working adults', 'quater' instead of 'quarter', 'loved once' instead of 'loved ones', and 'this all sum up'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, reflecting a limited range and frequent minor inaccuracies in spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Furthermore, after work a major amount of time of a person was utilized in sleeping...' and 'In contrast, working individual spent almost half of his day...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring missing articles ('a working adults', 'at the work place'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing ('this all sum up to'). Punctuation errors also occur, such as spaces before commas. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause minor difficulty for the reader, the grammar performance aligns best with Band 5.0 descriptors.
