Student answer (Band 5.0)
The pie charts illustrate the percentages of the day spent by working adults on various activities. A comparison should be made to evaluate the activities of 1958 and 2008. Total six type of activities are discussed in the pie chart such as travelling to work, outing with friends, relaxation, playing sports and sleeping. In 1958, majority of the people (19%) preferred outing with friends and family rather than staying at home i.e. only 8%. The percentage of people who enjoyed sleeping was 32% in 1958, while the percentage of working people were only 33%. Only 2% of people were love to travel in that time. If we talk about the percentage of these activities in 2008, situation become different. The first difference is that in 2008 most people love to stay at home rather than staying out with friends and family. Now a days 7% of people start to enjoy sports. People are becoming workaholic, 7% of people are travelling to work and only 25% of people enjoy sleeping as compared to peole in 1958. So It is concluded that In 2008 people want to enjoy their work and then go back and relax instead of enjoy outside. They also want to get fit as few people wants to play sports in their free time

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to cover the main features of the two pie charts representing time allocation in 1958 and 2008. An overview is attempted at the end of the text, but the selection of data is somewhat erratic. For instance, the student states that in 1958 the majority of people (19%) preferred outing with friends, which misinterprets 19% as a 'majority' when sleeping (32%) and working (33%) were significantly larger. Furthermore, some data points are misread or confused, such as stating 'working people were only 33%' and inaccurately comparing the categories. While all six categories are eventually mentioned, the lack of accurate data reporting and flawed comparisons prevent the response from achieving a higher band. It satisfies the basic requirements of summarising the data, but falls short on precise feature selection.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs for each year, and a concluding summary. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing ('If we talk about the percentage of these activities...'). Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'Now a days' and 'So It is concluded that'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks clear structure, as sentences jump between different activities without a smooth comparative thread. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which disrupts the flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation (e.g., 'Total six type of activities', 'outing with friends', 'people were love to travel'). The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'workaholic', but struggles with accurate collocation and grammatical forms (e.g., 'few people wants'). Spelling and word-formation mistakes, such as 'peole', also occur. While the range is minimally adequate to convey the general topic, lexical limitations and inaccuracies occasionally cause strain for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently faulty, such as in 'In 1958, majority of the people (19%) preferred outing with friends and family rather than staying at home i.e. only 8%.' Errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'few people wants', 'percentage... were'), articles ('the majority', 'a comparison'), and tense consistency are common throughout the text. Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear (e.g., 'Now a days', 'So It is concluded that In 2008'). These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader.
