Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all key parts of the task by reporting the main features of the charts and making relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008, such as the increase in working and traveling and the decrease in sleeping. An overview is present at the beginning, summarizing main trends. However, the data points are occasionally inaccurate or confusingly stated, such as 'The travelling in working percentage is grew', and the unsupported personal commentary at the end regarding health ('injerious for health acitivity that kills people mindset') detracts from the academic tone and objectivity required for Task 1. Therefore, it achieves a band score of 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organized with an introductory sentence, body paragraphs grouped by increases and decreases, and an overall attempt at paragraphing. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. The transitions between points are abrupt, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'In contrast, they spend less time in sleeping and going out with family and friend in 2008.' The heading-like structures ('Looking at the increase,' and 'Looking at the descrease,') are overly conversational and demonstrate a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. Paragraphing is also somewhat disjointed due to run-on thoughts. These factors place this criterion at a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes (e.g., 'copare', 'iand', 'instanly', 'descrease', 'scedule', 'injerious'). While the student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the prompt, inaccuracies in collocation and form impede clarity in places, such as 'travelling in working percentage' or 'kills people mindset'. The range is adequate to convey simple comparisons but lacks the precision required for higher bands, resulting in a band score of 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Most sentences contain frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction. There are numerous run-on sentences and fragmented ideas, such as 'Working percentage is also increase in 2008 its about 42% now and 33% in 1958.And the relaxing at home is also instanly increase...' Subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are poorly controlled throughout the text (e.g., 'percentage is grew', 'its only 2% but now its rise'). These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a band score of 4.5.
