Student answer (Band 4.0)

Pie Charts map the real comparsion of the adult time. Every age has their own pattern and as same adults have. Pie chart clearly shows a compairsion between 1958 and 2008 routines and patterns. There are some major effected portions that are more likely changed among time. Discussing few major features

1: Working: Evolving Technologies requires more time to undestand systems, technology generates ease but needs more focus and time.

2: Time with family & friends: Adults are now having habit of introvert, like to spend their time alone and this effects this time and continuesly increasing.

3: Sleeping: Extended Working requires more time and in 24 hours cycle adults sacrifices sleep to achieve their target goals

4: Relaxing at home: Becoming Introvert and socail skills forces adults to stay at home.

Some other feautures get also effected like travelling to work which is the result of having cities bigger with passage of toime and having inductries outside the cities which requires extra time for travel, other effected areas can also be very by person to person.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarise the pie charts comparing working adults' time in 1958 and 2008, meeting the minimum length requirement. However, the task achievement is seriously compromised by the inclusion of irrelevant personal opinions and external explanations, such as claiming adults are becoming 'introvert' or that technologies require more time to understand. The visual data indicates working hours increased from 33% to 42% and sleeping decreased from 32% to 25%, but the student fails to provide a cohesive academic overview or report the main features accurately within a standard report structure, instead relying on a numbered list with subjective commentary. Overall, the response falls into Band 4 because it misinterprets the conventions of an Academic Task 1 summary by injecting unsupported speculation rather than objective reporting of visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The organisational structure of the response fails to meet the expectations of an academic report. The writer uses an unconventional numbered list format (1, 2, 3, 4) rather than properly paragraphed text. Cohesive devices are weak or absent, and logical progression is disrupted by the disjointed bullet-point style. Although the introduction attempts to state the purpose of the charts, the overall arrangement lacks the clear transitions, introductory overview, and standard paragraphing required for a higher band score. Referencing between sentences is poor, resulting in a somewhat fragmented reading experience that places the text securely in Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several lexical errors and awkward collocations. Examples include 'real comparsion', 'major effected portions', and 'continuously increasing'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'introvert' and 'extended working', but these are used incorrectly or inappropriately in the context of describing statistical pie charts. Spelling errors, such as 'comparsion', 'feautures', 'inductries', and 'toime', further detract from the lexical quality. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey a rudimentary message, the numerous inaccuracies and inappropriate word choices restrict the score to Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that frequently break down due to structural errors. Examples of ungrammatical constructions include 'Every age has their own pattern and as same adults have', 'Evolving Technologies requires more time', and 'other effected areas can also be very by person to person'. Subject-verb agreement errors are common (e.g., 'Technologies requires', 'feautures get also effected'), and punctuation and capitalisation are erratic throughout the response. Because errors are frequent, distort meaning in places, and impede smooth reading, the grammar is reflective of a Band 4 level.
