Student answer (Band 5.0)
The main features i would highlight that these both pie charts differentiate on the basis of would be that in 1958 there was no ratio for sports where as in 2008 there is a 7 % of sports ratio in the day of working adults. The other big factor that these both differentiate on the basis of is going out with family , In 1958 people actually gave preference to thier family /friends by spending time with them and going out with them where in 2008 the ratio for going out with friends or family has declined by a big margin. Travelling to work is also a very big factor that shouldn`t be ignored because if the time being spent is alot then its also going to reduce the space for other activities . Another key feature i must highlight is sleep , Sleep is one of the most important activity that shoulnt be ignored and must be given the upmost preference possible because sleep is a major denoter to a humans health and a key activity that helps a human grow. Humans should never ever compromise on sleep but have been compromising which can be seen in both of these graphs . In 1958 people actually ratioed there time very well, They Prioritized there relationship with their friends and family , They didnt compromise on thier sleeps and also didnt spend too much time on travelling . Life is all about how you spend it and how well you structure your routine to spend it . In 2008 it can be clearly seen that people prioritized those things which wouldnt matter much and will regret later . Life shouldnt be spent but should be lived as you only get it once

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to summarise the main features of the pie charts, noting the inclusion of sports in 2008 and the decline in socialising. However, the student fails to maintain an academic and objective tone, instead injecting a large amount of personal opinion, moralising commentary, and life advice (e.g., 'Life shouldnt be spent but should be lived as you only get it once'). Furthermore, key data points such as working hours (which increased significantly from 33% to 42%) are completely overlooked in favor of emotional commentary on sleep and family. This falls short of the objective reporting required for Academic Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a single block of text. There is no clear overall progression or logical structure; the writing transitions abruptly from data points into philosophical musings. Cohesive devices are minimal and repetitive (e.g., 'in 1958', 'in 2008', 'and also'), and referencing is weak, making it difficult to follow the flow of information. Overall organisation does not meet the standards for Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic vocabulary such as 'factor', 'time', 'spend', and 'ratio' (often used incorrectly to mean percentage or proportion, e.g., 'no ratio for sports'). There are also spelling and mechanical issues, such as lowercase 'i', missing apostrophes in contractions ('didnt', 'shouldnt'), and informal conversational phrasing ('a very big factor that shouldn`t be ignored').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentences, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent punctuation errors, run-on sentences with comma splices (e.g., 'In 1958 people actually ratioed there time very well, They Prioritized...'), and homophone confusion ('their' written as 'thier'). Complex structures are often clumsy and ungrammatical. Errors are frequent enough to cause some strain for the reader.
