Student answer (Band 5.0)
The pie chart shows the comparison of how the working adults of two generations spent their time. From graph we can clearly see that the time spent on work is increased with the time being from 33% to 42%. Playing sports however became the comon inetrest on both generations as they spend same time on it however the major dip is spending time and enjoying with family or freinds as the 1950's people spend almost 19% of time with loved-ones whereas 2000's people only 6%. There is a change in pattern in travelling to work part because 2000's people was travelling 5% more than 1950's one. Sleep plays an important role in human's life and especially for someone who works harder and it can be seen in chart that both the generations spend very handsome amount of time sleeping but 1950's one has an upper hand in this one, and finally after a hectic workout schedule you have to relax at home and seeing the chart we can clearly see the young adultds spent 5% more time at home then the 1958 adults.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the task by comparing the two pie charts showing how working adults spent their time in 1958 and 2008. Key data points are mentioned, such as the increase in working time from 33% to 42%, and the drop in time spent with family and friends. However, there are several inaccurate claims made based on the data: for instance, the student states that 'Playing sports... became the comon inetrest on both generations as they spend same time on it', whereas the chart shows playing sports at 7% in 2008 and does not feature it at all in 1958. Furthermore, there is no overall overview paragraph, which is essential for a Band 6.5 or above in Academic Task 1. Overall, the response addresses the prompt partially with some inaccurate reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The entire response is written as a single, dense block of text without any paragraph breaks, which heavily impacts the overall organization and logical progression. While basic cohesive devices are used (such as 'however', 'whereas', and 'and finally'), referencing is sometimes confusing and informal. For example, phrases like 'the 1950's one' and 'young adultds' are used repeatedly in a repetitive and colloquial manner. The lack of paragraphing means there is no clear separation between introduction, body details, and overview, leading to a mechanical and cluttered flow. To improve, the student must divide the text into logical paragraphs and use a wider variety of cohesive links.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'generations', 'hectic', and 'upper hand', but vocabulary control is limited and informal. There are several spelling mistakes ('comon', 'inetrest', 'freinds', 'adultds') and awkward collocations, such as 'very handsome amount of time' and 'hectic workout schedule' (the chart refers to work, not workouts). While the range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate basic ideas, the frequent spelling errors and imprecise word choices restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is quite low due to frequent errors. Examples include tense inconsistencies and awkward phrasing such as 'the time spent on work is increased with the time being from 33% to 42%' and '2000's people was travelling 5% more'. There are also punctuation issues, such as run-on sentences connected loosely by conjunctions without appropriate terminal punctuation or commas. These errors frequently distract the reader and impede smooth reading, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.
