Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chat illustrates that how mature employees in a specific state, invest their time in two different eras spaced by half a century. The maximum portion in 24 hour period is dedicated for working in both 1958 and 2008, while the trend in the least portion of the day varies between heading out with relatives and commute to work.
In 1958, a third of the whole day is focused on the job. Almost the same portion is for sleeping, then followed by socializing with close ones. The least part is spent on commuting to work. In 2008, the major segment was specified for the job or buisness. The quater of 24 hour was reserved for night sleep, then a 1/10th part was for some leisure time. It is followed by commute to work and engaging in physical activites, both of which has similar time spot. The least segement is to spend quality time with family.
The trend has varied over half a century with similarities in working and differences over other activities

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of working adults' time allocation in 1958 and 2008 and making appropriate comparisons. The student correctly identifies that working occupied the largest portion in both years (33% and 42% respectively) and highlights the shifts in other activities such as sleeping, relaxing at home, commuting, socializing, and sports. An overview is present at the end of the text and embedded in the introduction, fulfilling the requirements for Task Achievement. The data points cited, such as a third for work in 1958 and 42% in 2008, align accurately with the provided visual data. The response meets all core criteria for this section well, presenting a clear and comprehensive summary of the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs contrasting the two years, and a concluding overview. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the data, such as phrases like 'In 1958', 'Almost the same portion', and 'In 2008'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the general introduction and overview from the specific year-by-year breakdown and final summary. However, referencing and transitions between sentences are at times slightly mechanical or abrupt, preventing it from reaching a higher band. Overall, the arrangement is coherent and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate and generally appropriate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'portion', 'segment', 'socializing', and 'leisure time'. There are some less common lexical items attempted, such as 'dedicate', 'sub-segment', and 'physical activites', though some minor word choice and spelling inaccuracies occur (e.g., 'pie chat', 'buisness', 'quater', 'activites'). Despite these occasional slips, the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly without impeding communication, matching the criteria for a band 6.5 or solid band 6 performance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and introductory prepositional phrases effectively (e.g., 'The pie chat illustrates that how mature employees...', 'In 2008, the major segment was specified for...'). There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasing patterns, such as 'illustrates that how', 'is dedicated for working', 'both of which has similar time spot', and a missing article in 'least segement is to spend'. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication, and a sufficient variety of structures is attempted to meet the descriptor for a band 6.
