Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 77 words compared to the required minimum of 150 words. This significantly limits the student's ability to fully select, report, and compare the main features of the pie charts. While the writer attempts an overview and mentions some key trends—such as the increase in working time and the decrease in sleeping and going out with friends—the data reporting is incomplete and lacks full development. Important categories like relaxing at home or playing sports are omitted. Due to the extreme brevity and incomplete coverage of the visual data, this response falls into Band 4 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response attempts a basic structure with an introductory sentence and an overall overview. However, cohesion is hampered by severe mechanical errors and awkward formatting, such as extra spaces around punctuation marks ("1958 and 2008 years ."). The text is presented as a single short paragraph, lacking effective paragraphing or sophisticated logical connectors. While the transition words "Overall" and "whereas" are attempted, the overall organizational flow is weak and disjointed due to the brevity and sentence construction issues. It meets the Band 4 descriptor where information lacks sufficient coherent arrangement.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. There are multiple lexical and spelling errors, such as "significante" instead of significant, "slaghtly" instead of slightly, "travlling work" instead of travelling to work, and "steadly" instead of steadily. The student does attempt some less common collocations like "significant decline" and "steadily decrease," but the high frequency of spelling and word-choice errors impedes natural expression and communication. This performance aligns with Band 4 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting of just two long, overly complex, and poorly controlled sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and prepositions throughout the text, such as "spending time for adult workers" instead of the time spent by adult workers, and missing prepositions or incorrect word forms like "as going out with friends which show a significante decline." The majority of sentences contain noticeable errors that strain the reader, placing the response firmly in Band 4.
