Student answer (Band 4.0)
The pie chart shown below illustrates about how working adults spend their time in 1958 and 2008.Firstly I would like to talk about working of 1958. If we see the chart it shows that going with family and friends were a lilttle common at that time, individuals who were working would make some time for their loved ones.Next if we talk about working so in that era individuals were not very passionate about there work and there were not many oppertunites for people. Moreover travelling to work was not very common for people the adults use to work in their specific cities.Sleeping was a little longer. Now if we talk about 2008 the modren era, sports was added to the chart some individuals played games after a tired day.If we talk about the New youth they were not intrested to go with their familes. Travelling to work was a little common adults use to go abroad for working.Working ratio was high because the new youth is very passionate to get sucessful. Sleeping ratio was a little less as compared to the 90,s era because they didnt give time to sleep relaxing at home became common. In my opinion both eras are having their pros and cons in the first chart their were no soprts but people used to spend time with familes but the second one the individuals werent used to it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the core requirements of Academic Writing Task 1. Instead of providing an objective summary and comparison of the data, the student adopts an inappropriate informal tone and introduces speculative personal opinions not present in the charts, such as claiming individuals in 1958 were 'not very passionate about there work' or that people in 2008 'used to go abroad for working'. While some data points are mentioned (e.g., working hours, sleeping, sports), they are inaccurate or incomplete, and there is no clear overview of the main trends. The conclusion resembles an opinion essay rather than a data summary. This earns a band score of 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The text lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a single block of text which makes it difficult to follow. Logical progression is severely hindered by conversational meta-commentary ('Firstly I would like to talk about...', 'If we see the chart...'). Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, relying heavily on basic linkers like 'Next', 'Moreover', and 'Now if we talk about'. Paragraphing is absent, and the overall structure fails to adhere to the standard conventions of an academic report. This warrants a band score of 4.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and largely informal ('modren era', 'tired day', 'New youth'). There are numerous spelling and word-choice errors, including 'oppertunites', 'intrested', 'familes', and 'sucessful'. The student attempts to use some less common vocabulary related to the prompt, but inaccurate collocation and spelling strain the reader's understanding. The language is inadequate for an academic task, resulting in a band score of 4.5, rounded to 4.0 or 5.0 based on descriptors; 4.5 is not a standard discrete band, so 4.0 is appropriate given the persistent lexical limitations and spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and flawed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('adults use to go', 'both eras are having'), incorrect prepositions ('intrested to go', 'compared to the 90,s era'), and run-on sentences punctuated incorrectly with commas instead of full stops. Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of basic grammatical structures, corresponding to a band score of 4.0.
