The provided pie charts compare the percentages of the day spent by working adults on several activities in 1958 and 2008.
It is evident that in 1958, 32% of the total time was spent sleeping, which reduced to 25% in 2008. By contrast, working time increased significantly from 33% in 1958 to 42% in 2008. Likewise, travelling time to go to work also rose by 5%, which was only 2% in 1958.
With regard to spending time while relaxing at home reached 13% in 2008, while going out with friends and family decreased by the same proportion over the given period of time. An additional activity was also introduced after several decades in 2008, such as playing sports, and the figure stood at 7%.
Overall, as sleeping time declined slightly, working hours increased. Similarly, leisure time of going out with friends and family experienced a decline, while relaxing at home increased.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all major features of the given data from both 1958 and 2008. You provided an adequate overview and highlighted key trends such as the increase in working hours and the decline in sleeping time. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed; for instance, the detail about 'going out with friends and family' decreasing by the same proportion could have been more fully integrated into the wider comparison of leisure activities. The data points cited, including 33% and 42% for working, are accurate and grounded in the visual source. To reach a higher level, ensure that all selected comparisons are fully explained in relation to the overarching trends.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The writing demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into logical paragraphs, starting with an introduction, moving to body details, and concluding with a summary. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the data, such as 'By contrast', 'Likewise', and 'With regard to'. However, cohesion occasionally feels a bit mechanical, particularly in sentence openings like 'With regard to spending time while relaxing at home reached 13%', which disrupts the flow of the sentence structure. Clear logical progression is maintained throughout, but achieving a higher band would require smoother, more natural integration of transitional phrases and better referencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully conveying numerical data and trends using terms such as 'percentages', 'significant', 'rose', and 'declined'. You make commendable attempts at less common vocabulary, but there are some awkward word choices and phrasing, notably in the sentence 'With regard to spending time while relaxing at home reached 13%', where the phrasing is tangled. Spelling and word choice errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the information easily. To improve further, focus on precision in collocation and avoid awkwardly mixing structural phrases like 'with regard to' as the subject of a verb.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and comparative structures effectively, such as 'which reduced to 25% in 2008' and 'travelling time to go to work also rose by 5%, which was only 2% in 1958.' There are some errors in grammar, most notably in clause construction and prepositions within grammatical patterns, seen in 'spending time while relaxing at home reached 13%.' Despite these occasional errors, they rarely impede communication, and your sentences remain generally clear. A wider variety of error-free complex structures and tighter syntactical control would elevate your writing to the next level.
