Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting an overview and reporting key features from the two pie charts. However, some aspects are under-developed or inaccurately reported. For instance, the writer claims that 'sleeping working hours sharply rose from 32% to 42%', which conflates two separate categories (working rose to 42%, while sleeping dropped to 25%). Additionally, the data for socialization is slightly misreported as dropping to 5% rather than 6%, and sports is incorrectly stated to account for a 'constant proportion' when it was absent in 1958 and at 7% in 2008. These inaccuracies and lack of precise data handling prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Information is generally organized logically, moving from main trends to specific details. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'At a glance' and 'On the contrary' are used, but referencing and flow are occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing such as 'The same trend can be observed for travelling to work among corporate individuals which indicates hovering from 2% to 7% approximately.' Paragraphing is used, but grouping ideas could be managed more effectively to ensure smoother progression between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items and descriptive phrases such as 'corporate individuals', 'allocated for socialization', and 'constant proportion'. There are, however, some noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward word choices, such as 'sleeping working hours' and 'indicates hovering from 2% to 7%'. Spelling is generally accurate, but limitations in precision and collocation mean that meaning is occasionally obscured. This places the lexical performance comfortably within the mid-range level, showing an ability to communicate basic trends while occasionally struggling with precise academic phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositional usage, article omission, and awkward clause connections. Examples include 'spent most of their time at working', 'showed a opposite trend', and 'the spent by working adults'. Punctuation is also neglected in places, such as missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'Overall,it can be observed'). While these errors do not completely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough and affect sentence-level accuracy to restrict the score at this level.
