Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main features of the two pie charts, noting the highest categories like working and sleeping, as well as significant shifts in activities such as going out and relaxing at home. An overview is attempted at the beginning. However, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 133 words, falling short of the 150-word minimum. Furthermore, some data points are inaccurate or poorly integrated, such as stating that traveling and relaxing rose significantly while omitting playing sports entirely for 2008, and misrepresenting the time span as 1958-2008 rather than two separate years. Ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed due to the brevity and omissions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement, dividing the content into an introduction with an overview, followed by separate body paragraphs for the 1958 data and the 2008 data. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'In 1958', and 'respectively'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical, and the paragraphing and transitions could be smoother. For instance, the transition 'Wokring increased to 42% while, sleeping dropped' is slightly disjointed, and referencing phrases like 'The remaing travelling anf relaxing at home' display awkward logical progression and mechanical linking.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'proportion', 'substantially', and 'dramatically'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'illustartes', 'maintaing', 'Substaintial', 'remaing', 'anf', 'rose' (used where noun form or different structure was needed), 'Wokring', 'substaintially', and 'furthure'. Word choice and word formation inaccuracies are also present, such as 'highest shareholder' instead of 'largest proportion' or 'highest percentage', which impedes natural expression and keeps the lexical score constrained.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing introductory phrases and comparative structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occur across the text. Examples include missing articles or prepositions ('proportion time spent', 'in a country during the year 1958 - 2008'), incorrect punctuation surrounding clauses and conjunctions ('while, sleeping dropped'), and awkward clause structures ('The remaing travelling anf relaxing at home has rose significantly', where 'has rose' is also a tense/form error). These issues place the grammatical control within the expected range for this band level.
