In 1958, percentage of working as well as sleeping had similar at 33% and 32% respectively. followed by adults were liked to going ou with friends and family, which was 19% of total percentages. 8% of teenagers were relaxing at home in the year of 1958, whereas travelling to work had very little porportion.

In 2008, the porportion of working has been increased by almost 9%, while interest in sleeping had reduced to 7%. The percentage of relaxing at home also dropped by the time upto 5%. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially and contains several factual inaccuracies regarding the data. For example, the student states that the pie chart depicts activities between 1948 and 2008, and incorrectly claims that the proportion of sleeping in 2008 had 'reduced to 7%' when the chart shows it was actually 25%. Additionally, in the third paragraph, the student misinterprets changes, such as claiming interest in sleeping dropped to 7% and relaxing at home dropped to 5%, which contradicts the source data where relaxing at home rose to 13%. While the response includes an overview and attempts to report some main features and comparisons, the confusion in data reporting and the limited, mechanical selection of details mean the task is only partially satisfied.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates some overall organisation with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs for 1958 and 2008, and an overview. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or misused, such as using 'whereas travelling to work had very little porportion' abruptly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical links between sentences are weak, such as 'In 2008, the porportion of working has been increased'. These structural and transitional shortcomings place the essay firmly in the middle band for cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'dominant activities' and 'proportion', but struggles with accuracy, leading to noticeable errors and misspellings like 'porportion', 'enjoning', and 'upto'. There are also awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'adults were liked to going ou with friends' and 'interest in sleeping had reduced'. These lexical errors and a repetitive range of vocabulary cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, voice, and agreement, such as 'percentage of working as well as sleeping had similar at 33%', 'the porportion of working has been increased', and 'hanging out with family and friends were drastically reduced'. Punctuation and preposition usage within grammatical patterns also show persistent flaws. These frequent errors cause reading difficulty, characterising this level of grammatical control.
