The given pie charts depict the information about the proportion of time spent by working people in various activities in a particular nation, in two different years 1958 and 2008.

At a fleeting glance, it is abundantly clear that working aquire 33% of their overall time in 1958 and this increased to 42% in 2008. Whereas, the time spent on sleeping in 1958 was considerably more than 2008. Previously, working person spent 8% of their time in relaxing at homes, but somehow it increased to 13% in the year 2008.

Probing further, it can be seen that there was a rise of 5% in the time spent by people to travel to work. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by selecting and reporting the main features of both charts and making relevant comparisons, such as contrasting the proportions of time spent working and with family. However, some ideas are under-developed or inaccurately described. For instance, the statement that 'playing sports was almost equal in both time zones' is slightly imprecise, as sports only appeared as a category in 2008 at 7% while being absent in the 1958 chart. The overview captures the dominant activity well, but the supporting details in the body paragraphs could be more thoroughly extended with clearer comparisons across the two years to reach a higher level of development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and logical paragraphing that guides the reader through the data. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'At a fleeting glance', but some transitions feel a bit mechanical or heavy-handed, like 'Probing further'. Referencing is generally clear, although pronoun use at the beginning of the second paragraph ('most of their time') lacks an immediate antecedent, relying on the reader to infer the subject from the context. Logical progression is maintained throughout the text, meeting the requirements of this level.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

An adequate range of vocabulary is used for the task, allowing the writer to successfully describe proportions and trends with phrases like 'proportion of time', 'considerably more', and 'significant changes'. There are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, most notably the spelling error 'aquire' instead of 'account for' or 'comprise', and the awkward phrasing 'going outside with friends and family' rather than 'going out'. However, these lexical errors do not impede communication, and the writer makes acceptable attempts to use less common vocabulary throughout the report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and comparative structures effectively. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('working person spent') and slight prepositions issues like 'spent by people to travel' instead of 'spent travelling'. Punctuation is also slightly awkward in places, such as unnecessary commas in 'whereas, in 2008'. Nevertheless, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to easily follow the intended meaning of the sentences.
