Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two years and report several accurate figures, including working (33% to 42%), sleeping (32% to 25%) and travel (2% to 7%). However, the overview is not fully accurate: travel was the smallest category in 1958, but in 2008 both travel and sport were 7%, while going out was lowest at 6%. The final sentence stops before reporting the 2008 figure for going out, and the new sports category is not clearly compared with the earlier chart. The response therefore covers the task only partially, with important features left incomplete or unclear. It is also 9 words below the required minimum; develop the overview and comparisons to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for each year. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is weakened by the abrupt ending, “Going out with friends or family”, which leaves the final comparison unfinished. Some links between ideas are also mechanical or unclear, as in “After years” and “which was increased as compared to past.” The overview groups the least common activities together without distinguishing how this changes between the charts. Organise the figures into clearer comparisons—for example, increases, decreases and the lowest categories—and use complete sentences to make the relationships explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “illustrate,” “spent,” “increased” and “relaxing at home,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “perposion,” “six various activities,” “working space,” and “share equal number of ratio.” Repeated use of “people,” “humans” and “individuals” does not add precision, and “outing” is not a natural way to describe the chart category. Spelling errors such as “travellinf” and “enggaed” also reduce clarity. Prefer the chart’s exact activity labels and straightforward reporting language, such as “the proportion of time spent working” or “accounted for.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to use more than simple statements, including the contrast introduced by “whilst” and the comparison in “which was increased as compared to past.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make the relationships difficult to follow. For example, “most of the people were spent their time” uses an incorrect passive form; “33% people were spent” has the same problem and lacks an article or suitable construction; and “13% of time distributed” is missing a correctly formed verb. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “sleeping. they were”. Use active structures such as “Adults spent 33% of their day working,” and check verb forms, articles and complete sentence construction.
