Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both years and report the main changes accurately: work rises from 33% to 42%, sleep falls from 32% to 25%, and socialising drops from 19% to 6%. Your overview also identifies work as the largest share in 2008 and travel as a small share in 1958. This gives the response a clear account of the chart’s key features. Some comparisons could be developed more explicitly, however: for example, you could highlight that travel and sport each account for 7% in 2008, while relaxing at home increases from 8% to 13%. The phrase “working and sleeping were represented dominant share” is also unclear, so the overview does not express the 1958 pattern precisely. A sharper summary of the main contrasts would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a sensible four-part structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 1958 and 2008. This makes the information easy to follow, and time markers such as “In 1958” and “By 2008” help signal the comparisons. The progression is generally logical, although some linking is mechanical or unclear. For instance, “However” does not show a clear contrast before the smaller 1958 figures, and “The remain activities” is used to introduce lists in both detail paragraphs. Some sentences also combine several figures without a smooth relationship between them. Use more precise links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile,” and make each comparison’s relationship explicit to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “dominant,” “share,” and “accounted,” and you attempt to vary your descriptions rather than repeat the same wording throughout. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. “Working has become more creative” does not describe a change in the proportion of time, while “dominant secture” and “least popular” are not suitable ways to report these figures. There are also spelling errors, including “numerious,” “reprented,” and “reducton.” Aim for precise, familiar Task 1 language such as “the proportion spent working increased” and “the smallest share was devoted to travel.” Check spelling and use collocations that describe time allocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “working has a dominant secture, which reprented 33%” mixes present perfect with a past-time figure and has an unclear clause structure; “going out with friends and family were accounted of 19%” has problems with agreement and the passive pattern. In the overview, “working has shown highest share” also needs an article and a more suitable tense. Use past simple consistently for the chart years, and practise accurate patterns such as “Working accounted for 33%” and “the figure for sleep fell to 25%.”
