Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify some important features, including the rise in working time to 42%, the fall in sleeping from 32% to 25%, and the sharp difference in socialising between the two years. However, the overview is not fully accurate: travelling to work was the smallest category in 1958, but in 2008 it was tied with playing sports at 7%, while going out with friends or family was lowest at 6%. The claim that travelling was the smallest in the last year therefore misreads the chart. Several comparisons are also unclear or incomplete, and the 1958 working figure and the 2008 relaxation figure are not clearly integrated into a reliable summary. Select the main changes and state them precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable paragraph structure, with an overview followed by details, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Regarding the further details” signal stages in the report. However, progression between points is not consistently clear. The second paragraph combines sports, travel and socialising without explaining their relationships, and “the smallest contribution” is repeated without a clear reference to the relevant year or category. The final paragraph moves from sleeping to relaxation, but the comparison is awkwardly expressed and does not develop a clear sequence. Organise the details by major increases and decreases, and use explicit references such as “in 1958” and “by 2008” to make comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of formal reporting vocabulary, including “depict,” “disparity,” “proportion” and “contribution.” This shows some effort to move beyond basic wording, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts: “divergent sector,” “on the job adults,” and “the smallest contribution was noticed” make the meaning less clear. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “concered,” “percentag,” “ans” and “repectively.” Prefer precise, familiar chart language, for example “categories,” “working adults,” “accounted for,” and “the proportion of time spent.” Check spelling and collocations carefully so that ambitious vocabulary supports rather than obscures the comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “As far as” and “which,” but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to understand. For example, “It can generally seen” is missing “be,” while “the percentag of time utilized on sleeping … were 32% and 25%” has problems with the article, subject–verb agreement and sentence construction. “Moving onto, the smallest contribution come from…” also has faulty punctuation and verb form. Some sentences communicate a basic comparison, but the range is limited and complex attempts are often unreliable. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with clear patterns such as “The figure for sleeping fell from 32% to 25%.”
