Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several important comparisons, including working rising from 33% to 42%, sleeping falling from 32% to 25%, and socialising dropping from 19% to 6%. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate description: “working days” is not an activity, and the charts show time spent working. The account also misstates the 1958 travel figure: it was 2%, but your sentence appears to associate 2% with sports. You omit relaxing at home and do not mention that sports appears only in 2008. The response is also 9 words below the 150-word minimum. Add a precise overview and cover the main categories accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and further comparisons, and the reader can follow some of the figures. However, there is little clear progression: the point that working took the largest share is repeated in the overview and again in the next paragraph. Connections between details are sometimes unclear, particularly “travelling to work and playing sports accounted for 7% and 2% in 1958,” which makes the figures difficult to assign. The final paragraph groups socialising and sleeping without a clear organising principle. Use separate paragraphs to compare increases and decreases, and use accurate linking and referencing so each figure is unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, such as “proportion,” “accounted for,” and “devote,” and the main activities are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a chart. “Working days” does not mean time spent working, while “the information how” and “significant amount of time” are awkward formulations. “Teenagers” is also inaccurate because the chart concerns working adults. Spelling errors such as “sleepning” and “invidividuals” reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language, for example “share of the day,” “spend time working,” and “working adults,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and some comparisons are understandable, such as “19% people going out with their families and friends in 1958 and 6% in 2008.” However, grammatical errors are frequent enough to make several relationships unclear. The opening phrase “compare the information how” lacks a correct clause structure, and “in specific country” is missing an article. In “Mostly people spent more time on working days that represented 42%,” the sentence structure and reference of “that” are faulty. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation choices, including “Overall, It.” Practise complete comparison sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
