Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant comparisons, including that work takes a larger share in 2008 and that sleeping and time with friends or family take smaller shares. You also mention the additional sports category. However, the response does not provide a clear overview of the main changes, and several figures are omitted: for example, working rises from 33% to 42%, while travel increases from 2% to 7%. The statement that adults “mostly spend their time in working” is imprecise, and the 1958 description does not clearly report the 32% spent sleeping. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview of the biggest shifts, then support it with accurate figures and comparisons across both years.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response follows a basic chronological pattern, describing 1958 before 2008 and then attempting a comparison. This gives the reader some sense of the chart’s two time periods. However, ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the final comparison largely repeats earlier points rather than developing a logical summary. Linking phrases such as “Now on the other side” and “Now by comparing both graphs” are repetitive and do not clearly show relationships between the data. Some references are also difficult to follow, as in “After the spending their time in working adult worker sleeps.” Group the information into an introduction, an overview, and focused comparison paragraphs, using clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of relevant activity words, including “working,” “sleep,” “traveling,” and “playing sports,” so the general subject is understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “spend their time in working,” “They going with friends,” and “extra activity.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “extar,” also reduce accuracy. For chart reporting, use precise terms for proportions and changes, and vary the language rather than repeatedly using “spend time.” For example, describe a category as “accounting for” a percentage, or say that a share “increased” or “declined.” This would make the comparisons clearer and more appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts simple statements and comparisons, including “They sleep 25 percent which is lower than working adults of 1958,” but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently. Examples include “there is describing,” “working adults mostly spend,” and “Working adults of 2008 spends,” where verb forms or agreement are faulty. Several sentences lack necessary grammatical elements or punctuation, as in “They going with friends only 19percent” and “They do some extar activity like playing sports They traveling for work.” These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete sentence patterns, then use a few controlled comparative structures such as “whereas” and “compared with.”
