Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant categories and report some correct figures, including work rising from 33% to 42%, sleep falling from 32% to 25%, and commuting increasing from 2% to 7%. However, the response gives no clear overview of the main changes, and some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: going out fell from 19% to 6%, not 13%, while relaxing at home rose from 8% to 13%, not by 7%. The sports figures are also misreported: the chart shows 7% in 2008, with no sports category shown for 1958. The opening mainly lists activities rather than summarising the charts. Select the largest changes and state them accurately in a concise overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: the response begins with an introduction and then groups several comparisons in two paragraphs. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “However,” and “Along with that” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because the opening sentence is unclear, the next sentence (“This chart explain in next paragraps”) does not introduce useful information, and comparisons are packed into long, awkward sequences. Some connectors do not express a clear relationship between the points. Use a clear introduction, a separate overview, and body paragraphs that group the main increases and decreases; connect each figure directly to its comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentages,” “working,” “sleeping,” and “travelling to work,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “the started from 1958 to 2008 difference spent on the working” is not a clear way to describe a change, while “do not attration for games” does not communicate a precise chart observation. Spelling errors such as “realxing,” “paragraps,” and “increse” also reduce clarity. Practise accurate trend language and use standard spellings for key activity labels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to compare the two years, but sentence structures are very limited and frequent grammatical errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “The pie chart give information,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “people are going out … in 1958 is a 19%,” which combines incompatible sentence patterns. Articles and verb forms are also problematic in phrases such as “the realxing at the home 8%” and “people are do not.” Most comparisons would be clearer as complete sentences with a consistent past or present reporting form, for example, “The proportion working rose from 33% in 1958 to 42% in 2008.” Focus first on subject–verb agreement and building one complete comparison per sentence.
