Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main changes accurately: working rises from 33% to 42%, sleeping falls from 32% to 25%, and socialising drops from 19% to 6%. You also report the increases in relaxing at home and commuting, and note that sports appears in 2008. The overview captures the broad contrast between work and sleep as major activities and socialising and commuting as smaller shares, although commuting is not among the smallest categories in 2008, when it equals sports at 7%. The response covers the chart and selects relevant comparisons. To make the overview more precise, distinguish the largest category in each year and avoid broad claims such as “least proportion” when the ranking changes between years.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response follows a sensible order: an introduction and overview are followed by comparisons of the individual activities. Linking expressions such as “However,” “Conversely,” and “In a nutshell” help signal contrasts, and the reader can follow the overall progression. Some connections are less logical or mechanical, however. “The similar trend” does not clearly explain the relationship between the fall in sleeping and the sharper fall in socialising, while “Conversely” introduces commuting without a clear contrast. The text is also presented as one continuous block, and several ideas are crowded into long sentences. Use separate overview and detail paragraphs, and choose linking phrases that express the exact relationship between the figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “significantly increased,” “sharp decline,” “considerable increase,” and “commuting.” These choices help describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, some expressions are imprecise or unnatural for a chart summary: “average routine,” “hanging out,” “accounts the least proportion,” and “spent 7% of time of their daily routine for commuting.” “Working individuals” and “working personnel” are also repeated alternatives that sound less natural than “working adults.” Aim for concise, conventional collocations and use the same clear terms consistently. The meaning remains understandable, but more accurate phrasing would make the comparisons more precise and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including comparisons with “from … to …” and contrast clauses introduced by “whereas” and “however.” The main figures and trends are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “While sleeping experienced a slight decrease” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, and “accounts the least proportion” lacks the required preposition and has an awkward structure. In “the working adults spent 7% of time of their daily routine for commuting,” the article and preposition pattern are not controlled. There are also missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent comma spacing. Build complete sentences around each comparison, check articles and prepositions, and proofread punctuation.
