Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the two years and include several relevant categories, but the response reports the data inaccurately and does not provide a reliable overview of the main features. For example, you assign “6% play sports” to 1958, although sports appears only in the 2008 chart, at 7%; you also give 7% for going out in 2008, when the chart shows 6%. Some changes are described as differences rather than actual figures, and “the 2008 year was good” is an unsupported judgement rather than a summary of the data. To improve, check each figure against the chart and state the key overall changes objectively: work rose, while sleeping and socialising fell.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from an introduction to details for each year and then a conclusion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because figures and comparisons are mixed together, and the second-year paragraph repeats information already given. Phrases such as “In 2008, comparatively to 1958” and “Mostly things are increased” do not clearly connect the comparisons, while the final sentence adds a vague judgement instead of drawing the main trends together. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by grouped comparisons, such as increases in work, travel and home relaxation, then decreases in sleep and socialising. Use linking expressions only where they clarify the relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the charts, including “increased,” “decreased,” “approximately” and “in comparison,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. For instance, “working rate” is not a natural way to describe the share of the day spent working, and “good era” and “good than” express an opinion rather than chart information. There are also spelling errors such as “realxing.” Aim for precise chart language and accurate collocations, for example “the proportion of time spent working” and “rose by nine percentage points.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparative sentences, but control is uneven, and errors in sentence structure and verb forms sometimes make the information hard to interpret. Examples include “33 percent people spent their time in working,” which needs an article and a more suitable grammatical pattern, and “realxing at home is sharply increase,” where the verb form is incorrect. The sentence beginning “In 1958, the adults managed their time in such a way that…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure before the list of figures. Practise forming accurate past-tense reporting sentences and comparisons, such as “The proportion working rose from 33% to 42%.”
