Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main pattern that working took the largest share in both years and that commuting was a small category, and you report several relevant figures, including work at 33% and 42% and sleep at 32% and 25%. However, some details are inaccurate or incomplete: in 1958, relaxing at home was 8% and sports is not listed, so these categories did not have identical values; the 2% commuting figure is not stated. The overview also misses the notable fall in going out with friends or family, from 19% to 6%, and the appearance of sports at 7% in 2008. The reference to “working teenagers” misidentifies the group, which is working adults. More accurate selection and comparison of the key changes would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate discussion of the two years. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within the paragraphs is not always clear: the 1958 details move from work and sleep to socialising, then to categories that are incorrectly described as identical, without a clear comparison framework. Linking phrases such as “At the first glance,” “Afterthat,” and “Moving towards for rest of the information” are either awkward or mechanical, and the final paragraph contains a sentence fragment beginning “where.” Grouping the figures by increases, decreases and stable or newly appearing activities, with clearer transitions, would improve the flow and make comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “overview,” “accounted for,” “declined,” and “captured,” and the reader can generally identify the activities being discussed. However, many choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data, such as “day investment,” “day utilizations,” “percentile,” and “day assessment.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “acitivity,” “glanc,” “incresed,” and “relacing,” which reduce clarity. Some phrases, such as “same things noticed,” are too vague to express a precise comparison. Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “accounted for,” “rose to,” and “fell to”—and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You make some attempts to combine information in longer sentences, for example by using “while” to contrast work and commuting, and you use past-tense forms to discuss the two years. However, the range is limited and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “there were noticeable different,” where the adjective form is needed, and “working activities increased by 10 percent by day spending,” which has an unclear grammatical relationship between the clauses. Articles, agreement and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “only relaxing at home category capture significantly increased 13 percent ratio.” Several clauses lack a clear subject or verb, including the fragment beginning “where the category.” Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses and consistent past-tense verbs.
