Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant comparisons, including the rise in working time from 33% to 42%, the fall in sleeping from 32% to 25%, and the sharp decrease in going out from 19% to 6%. However, the overview is unclear and some descriptions misread the data: sleeping did not increase by 7%; it fell by 7 percentage points. You also describe the adults as “younger ones” or “youngsters,” although the chart concerns working adults, and the opening does not clearly state what the charts compare. The new sports category in 2008 is mentioned, but its 7% share is not reported. A clearer overview of the main shifts, with accurate figures and neutral descriptions, would make the response more complete and reliable.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has some paragraphing and attempts to guide the reader with phrases such as “Prima facie,” “Probing a head,” and “overall.” It also groups several comparisons together. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening does not establish the chart’s subject clearly, and the comparisons move between categories without a consistent structure. Some linking expressions are inaccurate or obscure, such as “on contrary of 2008” and “Despite this,” which makes the relationships between ideas unclear. Organise the report into a brief introduction, an overview of the main changes, and focused comparison paragraphs. Use straightforward links such as “whereas,” “by contrast,” and “in 2008” only where they accurately show the relationship.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of less common vocabulary, including “proportion,” “depicted,” and “rapidly,” but several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a chart. Phrases such as “time spending out,” “efficiency of work,” “least interest,” and “botherable” make the meaning difficult to interpret. “Percentile” is also not the correct term for a percentage, and “circular chart” is less suitable than “pie charts.” Spelling and word-form problems, including “widene d” and “payed,” further reduce clarity. Prefer accurate, conventional chart language: adults “spent” time on activities, the share “rose” or “fell,” and a category “accounted for” a percentage. This would retain variety while making your descriptions more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make the comparisons hard to understand. For example, “which was little more than another year with 13 percentile” has an unclear clause structure, while “it reached at 7%” uses an incorrect verb pattern. In “sleeping sector inclined with 7% more,” the sentence structure does not clearly express the intended decrease. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “it was recent activity of playing sports risen in 2008.” Some punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent, particularly at the start of sentences. Build shorter, accurate comparison sentences first, then add subordinate clauses once the basic subject, verb, and comparison are clear.
