Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the main overall changes and support them with accurate figures: working rises from 33% to 42%, while going out falls from 19% to 6%, the largest decline. You also report the changes in sleeping, relaxing at home and commuting, so the key comparisons are covered. The overview is clear, although its wording could be more precise: it groups sleeping with going out as the biggest declines without distinguishing that going out falls much more. More importantly, the statement that sports accounts for 7% in both years is not supported by the chart: sports appears only in 2008, at 7%. Clarifying that it is a newly listed category would make the account more fully accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs presenting the figures. The information generally progresses logically, and contrast markers such as “By contrast” help signal changes in direction. This coherent arrangement meets the core expectations, but cohesion is not always smooth or precise. The overview’s reference to the “biggest decline” is followed by a paragraph that identifies going out as the largest fall, while sleeping is also included in the overview without explaining the difference. The final sports sentence is also disconnected from the preceding comparison and inaccurately implies a figure for both years. Grouping the two increases and the main decreases more deliberately would strengthen progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “allocated,” “increased,” “reduced” and “fell significantly.” These choices help describe the data, and the meaning remains clear despite some inaccuracies. However, spelling errors such as “thier,” “freinds,” “worikng,” and “contrats” detract from control. Some collocations are also awkward: “working time has shown the biggest rise” and “Playing sports amounts for equal proportion” are not natural ways to describe chart data. Prefer precise reporting phrases such as “the share of the day spent working rose” and “sports accounted for 7% in 2008.” Check spelling carefully and use consistent terms for proportions and categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex structures, including comparisons with “from … to …” and a relative clause in “which is the biggest decline.” Most sentences communicate the intended comparisons, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “In 2008, people spend” should use the past tense, “spent,” to match the chart years. In “By contrast, biggest decline,” the superlative needs an article (“the biggest decline”). The final sentence, “Playing sports amounts for equal proportion of 7% in both years,” has problems with the verb pattern and article; a clearer construction is “Sports accounted for 7% in 2008.” More consistent tense control and accurate sentence patterns would improve reliability.
