Student answer (Band 5.0)
Given pie chart illustrates about the time spending behaviour changes in 1958 and 2008. The informantion is all about the working, staying at home, travel, spending time with family and friends,Sleeping, and playing games of adults.
In 1958 elder people are more spending time on working and sleeping which was around 32 to 33 percent, but in 2008 working time incresed to 42 percent and sleeping time decrease to 25 percent. Moreover, adults were relaxing at home around 8 percent in 1958 but it increase in 2008 to 13 percent.
Back days in 1958 they were spending 19 percent of ther time for outing which decrease to 6 after only 5 decads. But the playing sports are similar to 7 percent in both. There is huge increment in traveling to work which was 2 percent but it increase to 7 percent, Which reflects that people are more traveling for work as comapir to the past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important changes accurately: working rises from 33% to 42%, sleeping falls from 32% to 25%, and time spent going out drops from 19% to 6%. However, the response only partly fulfils the task because it lacks a clear overview of the main pattern across both charts. It also misreports sports: the 7% figure applies only to 2008, while sports is not listed for 1958; saying the figures are similar is unsupported. The opening also says “playing games,” which does not accurately describe the chart’s sports category. To strengthen the report, give a concise overview—for example, work became the largest activity, while social outings declined sharply—and report each category and comparison precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the charts, compares work and sleep, then discusses home relaxation, outings, sports and commuting. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and words such as “Moreover” and “But” attempt to connect points. However, there is no distinct overview, and the comparisons are grouped somewhat loosely rather than arranged around the main increases and decreases. Some linking is awkward or unclear, particularly “But the playing sports are similar to 7 percent in both,” which also makes the relationship between the ideas difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and for grouped comparisons, and choose precise links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” to show how the figures relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased,” “decreased,” “percent,” and “traveling to work,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “time spending behaviour changes” and “spending 19 percent of their time for outing” sound unnatural, while “playing games” does not match the chart’s category of playing sports. Spelling errors such as “informantion,” “incresed,” “ther,” and “comapir” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the report. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the proportion of time spent on…” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make the comparisons clearer and more formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and joined sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “adults are more spending time” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “it increase in 2008” and “sleeping time decrease” do not use the correct past-tense forms. The opening sentence, “Given pie chart illustrates about…,” is also incomplete or awkwardly structured, and punctuation is inconsistent, including the capital letter after a comma in “7 percent, Which reflects.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build clear sentences with a subject and verb, such as “The proportion spent relaxing at home increased from 8% to 13%.”
