Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a limited attempt to discuss changes between the years, but it does not adequately summarise the charts. It mentions that time spent working increased and that going out with friends and family decreased, which broadly matches the data, but gives no accurate figures and omits key categories such as sleeping, relaxing at home and travelling. Several claims are unsupported by the charts, including explanations about social media, working day and night, health issues and mental health. The charts show time allocations, not causes or consequences. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum. To improve, provide a clear overview of the main changes, then compare the largest categories using accurate percentages and avoid speculation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to connect ideas, using phrases such as “with the passage of time” and “Basically the overcome,” and the response is divided into two paragraphs. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence from an overview to supporting comparisons. The first paragraph moves between socialising, work, money and travel without explaining how these points relate to the chart, while the second introduces technology and sleep without a clear link. Some connections are difficult to follow, and punctuation and sentence boundaries make the flow less clear. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs comparing the chart categories; use linking words only where they accurately show the relationship between points.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The response uses a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “free time,” “family and friends,” “work,” and “travel,” so the general subject is sometimes recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and often inaccurate or difficult to understand, as in “the whole right,” “all strages of rule,” and “the overcome.” Spelling problems such as “frineds,” “decrese,” “vahicals,” and “issuse” also make the message harder to read. Some expressions, including “people runs to make your future,” do not convey a clear chart description. Build a more precise set of terms for reporting proportions and activities, such as “accounted for,” “share of the day,” and “time spent travelling,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences and express relationships, for example, “with the passage of time this habbit decrese because…,” but control of sentence structure is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is faulty in “people runs,” and verb forms are unclear in “people spent more time … and not give time.” The response also shifts between past and present without a clear reason, and several clauses run together without effective punctuation, particularly in the opening paragraph. These errors often make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple past forms for describing the two years, and build longer sentences from correctly formed clauses, using full stops to separate distinct comparisons.
