Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the rise in working time from 33% to 42%, the fall in socialising from 19% to 6%, and the decrease in sleeping from 32% to 25%. However, the overview is not fully accurate: you say time spent playing sports “remained same,” but sports appears only in the 2008 chart, at 7%. The charts also show relaxing at home rising from 8% to 13%, which you report, and travelling increasing from 2% to 7%. Some descriptions are unclear or imprecise, such as “adults sleeping percentage was also decreased by 7%.” The response is four words below the required minimum. Include a clear overview and report the figures more precisely, without adding unsupported comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph describing individual categories. This helps the reader locate the main information, and linking words such as “however,” “while,” and “moreover” show attempts to connect comparisons. However, the progression within the final paragraph is difficult to follow because several categories are joined in one long sentence, and the links sometimes do not express a clear contrast or addition. For example, “while youngster interest in playing sports remained same in both years” interrupts the comparison of travel and socialising. Use separate sentences or a more systematic order, such as describing increases first and decreases second, and ensure each linking word accurately signals the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “percentage,” “decrease,” “increase,” and “reached,” so the reader can generally identify the trends you intend to report. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning unclear. Phrases such as “adults spend their time in working,” “youngster interest,” and “percentage was grew” are not natural ways to describe the data. There are also spelling errors, including “piechart,” “percentange,” and “reamined.” Aim for precise chart language and check spelling and word forms. For example, use “the proportion of adults who worked” and “rose from 8% to 13%” rather than awkward or incorrect constructions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine comparisons using clauses and connectors, as in “however travelling to work was slightly increase from 2% to 7% in 2008.” However, sentence structures are limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to understand. Examples include “the adults spend their time,” “working and relaxing at home percentange was increase,” and “adults sleeping percentage was also decreased.” These show problems with tense, subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Punctuation also needs attention: the opening sentence runs into the next clause, and several sentences lack clear boundaries. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before attempting longer comparisons.
