Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You report several key figures accurately, including working rising from 33% to 42%, sleeping falling from 32% to 25%, and social outings dropping from 19% to 6%. The overview identifies the main rise and decline, and the other categories are also mentioned. However, the overview is limited: it omits the new sports category and does not clearly summarise the overall shift in how time was allocated. The claim that sports “remain same to 7%” is inaccurate because sports appears only in 2008. The explanation that increased work caused less family time is speculative and should be avoided in a chart summary. The response is also four words below the 150-word minimum; the 13 words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an overview, and then comparisons of individual activities. This makes the main information possible to follow. However, the organisation is not consistently clear, and several transitions are awkward or mechanically used, such as “On the other hand,” “One more thing,” and “Thereafter.” The final sentence repeats the overview rather than adding a useful summary. Some relationships between ideas are also unclear: “relaxing at home also increased … due to the work which increased” suggests a cause that the chart does not establish. Grouping the figures into clearer paragraphs—for example, increases and decreases—and using straightforward links would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant activity vocabulary, including “working,” “sleeping,” “travelling to work,” and “going out with friends and family,” so the topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make the description less precise. “Decreased economically” does not describe a percentage decline, while “high range of declined” and “the working portion” are awkward expressions. Spelling errors such as “gradullay,” “decresead,” and “prespective” are noticeable. Aim for accurate chart language and collocations, such as “rose gradually,” “fell sharply,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling before submitting. Avoid adding causal language when the chart only shows proportions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, with a few attempts to connect clauses using “while,” “which,” and “on the other hand.” These attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to interpret. For example, “THE WORKING INCREASED” lacks a suitable grammatical subject, and “the travelling to work increased 7%” needs a clearer comparison structure. Tense and agreement are inconsistent in “the working portion is 33 percent which rose,” while punctuation is often missing or misplaced, particularly around commas and sentence boundaries. Practise accurate comparative sentences, such as “The proportion working rose from 33% to 42%,” and use a consistent past tense for the two years.
