Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several important changes, including working rising from 33% to 42%, travel to work increasing from 2% to 7%, and going out with friends or family falling from 19% to 6%. However, the response only partially covers the charts: it ends before reporting the changes in sleeping, and the overview is brief and unclear. The statement that people “did not like to play sports” in 1958 is not supported by the chart, which simply does not show a sports category for that year. The response also contains only 117 words, below the required 150, so the comparison is underdeveloped. Include a complete overview and report the main changes across all categories without inferring people’s preferences.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and words such as “Overall” and “Moreover” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview repeats figures that appear again in the next paragraph, and the final sentence, “Moreover, sleeping and”, is unfinished. Some links are also unclear: “Where spents their time most on working” does not clearly connect to the preceding sentence. Use one paragraph for the main overview, then group the detailed comparisons logically, and ensure every sentence is complete. More precise referencing would also help readers follow which year each figure describes.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased,” “decreased,” “working time,” and “travelling to work,” so the main comparisons can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, form and spelling errors reduce clarity, such as “pic chart,” “noticible,” “incresed,” and “realxing.” Some expressions are also unnatural, including “people did not like to play sports” and “rose upto 5%”; the chart reports proportions of time, not people’s preferences. Aim for accurate, neutral language for describing data, and check spelling and collocations. Repeating “increased” can be avoided by using alternatives such as “rose” or “grew,” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, but control is inconsistent and errors frequently make the wording difficult to interpret. For example, “The pic chart demonstrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “both year shows” has problems with number and agreement. The clause “Where spents their time most on working increased” is not grammatically complete, and “people are traveling to work was at 2%” combines incompatible structures. Punctuation and spacing also need attention, as in “year.Where” and “in2008.” Use clear sentence patterns such as “The proportion of time spent working rose from 33% to 42%,” and check agreement, tense and sentence boundaries.
