Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify several important changes, including the rise in working time from 33% to 42%, the fall in sleeping from 32% to 25%, and the reduction in socialising from 19% to 6%. However, the overview is vague: saying the figures show “slight differences” does not capture the substantial shifts, especially the increase in work and decline in going out. There is also a factual omission or misreading: playing sports appears only in 2008, at 7%, so it cannot be compared as “almost same” across both years. The statement that travelling was the least activity “in both years” overlooks that sports also accounts for 7% in 2008. A clearer overview and more accurate selection of comparisons would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, groups several activities together, and then discusses sleeping and working. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is not consistently clear, and the ideas are often joined in long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the second paragraph moves from travel to sports, socialising and relaxing without clear sentence boundaries or a consistent comparison pattern. Connectors such as “next comes,” “while,” and “where as” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between points. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and organise the details by increases and decreases or by year.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “reduced,” “grown,” and “compared to,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the major part of the day was on working” and “trawelling to the work.” Repetition of “grown” and “reduced” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors, including “ireduced,” “diffrences,” and “Therefor,” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for standard expressions used to describe data, such as “accounted for,” “rose,” “fell,” and “the proportion of time spent on.” Check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent. Several sentence patterns are faulty, as in “The major part of the day was on working which consists of higher percentage,” where the clause structure and article use are unclear. There are also problems with verb forms and agreement in “working it is grown by 9%” and “the pie chart is representing.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are frequently weak: the second paragraph contains fragments beginning “next comes” and “where as,” while spaces before punctuation are inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before adding subordinate clauses.
