Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two years and report several relevant figures, including working (33% to 42%), sleeping (32% to 25%) and going out with friends or family (19% to 6%). However, the response is incomplete: it omits the changes in relaxing at home and travelling to work, and does not explain the 2008 sports category. The overview says the trends “showed fluctuation,” which is too general to highlight the main pattern; the clearest summary is that working took the largest share in both years, while sleeping and socialising declined. The claim that the increase in working was “gradual” is not supported by two snapshots. The response is also 36 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail provided. Add a clear overview and compare the remaining categories accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and the reader can follow the broad comparison between 1958 and 2008. However, progression is limited: the overview lists categories but does not establish a useful order for the comparisons, and the final paragraph stops after discussing socialising. Linking is sometimes awkward or repetitive, as in “while, 2008 pie chart” and “In 2OO8, Though”. Some punctuation and spacing problems also make the connections between clauses harder to follow. To improve, group related changes together—for example, increases in work, travel and home relaxation, followed by decreases in sleep and socialising—and use clear, accurate transitions between those points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “working,” “sleeping” and “decreased,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “schedule” for the way time was spent, “six basic trends” for activity categories, and “usage of time in adults.” Repetition of “pie chart,” “percentage” and “showed” also restricts precision. Spelling errors such as “scedule,” “demostrate” and “persentage” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Aim for accurate chart language and collocations, such as “share of the day,” “accounted for” and “rose/fell,” while checking spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, including the sentence contrasting work and sleep, but complex structures are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “The Pie chart Illustrates the scedule of adults in a country how they spent their time” has an unclear clause structure, while “these trend showed fluctuation” has a number-agreement error. The sentence beginning “In detail” combines several ideas without clear punctuation, and “(32%to25%)” is not integrated smoothly into the sentence. Capitalisation and spacing are also inconsistent. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then add controlled comparisons with patterns such as “Working rose from 33% to 42%, whereas sleeping fell from 32% to 25%.” Check articles, plurals, verb forms and sentence boundaries.
