Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main pattern accurately: work and sleep take the largest shares in 1958, while work is the largest category in 2008, and travelling is the smallest in 1958 while socialising is smallest in 2008. Most figures are reported correctly, including the 9-point rise in working and the equal 7% shares for commuting and sport. This gives a relevant overview and covers both years. However, the overview could compare the charts more directly, and the discussion is mainly a list of figures rather than a fuller account of the key changes. For example, you could highlight that socialising fell sharply from 19% to 6%, while commuting and relaxing both increased. Also clarify that sport appears only in 2008.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of 1958 and 2008. This makes the information easy to follow, and connectors such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships. The progression is generally logical, but cohesion is not always smooth: “people spent” and “adults spend” recur repeatedly, and several details are joined in long sequences with “and.” The overview also repeats points that are then restated in the body. To make the organisation more flexible, group figures by change—for example, categories that rose versus those that fell—and use clearer comparisons between years rather than presenting each chart in isolation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the chart, including “proportion,” “relaxing at home,” and “going out with friends and family.” However, the range is limited and some expressions are unnatural or imprecise, such as “spent their most of time,” “least of time,” and “this is also surge 9% as compare to 1958.” Repeated use of “spend” and “time” also makes the description less varied. Choose standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “share,” “rose,” and “fell,” and use accurate collocations like “spent the largest proportion of their day working.” Check spelling as well: “iin” is a typographical error. More precise vocabulary would make comparisons clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main information is usually understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, tense, articles, and agreement remain. For example, “people spent their most of time” has an incorrect possessive construction, while “In 2008, adults spend” shifts into the present tense despite describing a past year. “Adults spend around half of their their time” contains a repeated word, and “people spent 8% of time” needs an article. The sentence beginning “At present time” also combines several details without consistently controlled structure. Use the past tense throughout, check articles and possessives, and divide long strings of information into accurately formed comparative sentences. These corrections would improve control while preserving your attempts at complex sentences.
