Student answer (Band 5.0)
How much life changes in half a century for an working adult and how they spent their day is beautifully showed in these pie charts of 1958 and 2008. Working time is increased over the years life is busier than ever and sleeping is also decreased, travelling to work is increased as well and by the fact digitalization is making people lonely is somehow reflected in declination of friends/family time more than 10% in 50 years and Relaxing at home is increased as by 5% which also indicates ME time and travelling to work to and from home and working increased whilst decreased sleep time might be a reflection of increased stress or pressure of work and daily routine and also loneliness. The development and digitilization has made life easier and convinient but at the same time it somehow affected as well. Back then in 1958 travelling was way less and family /friends time was more and life was not lonelier as now but technologies were not available which was a shortfall and It is true that life is way too much easier than before with all this even having to work for more time is worth.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important overall changes: working and commuting took a larger share of the day in 2008, while sleep and time with friends or family declined. The comparison that social time fell by more than ten percentage points is supported by the figures (19% to 6%). However, the response does not clearly summarise the charts in a neutral, data-focused way. It omits the exact figures for most activities and does not mention that playing sports appears in 2008 at 7%. Instead, it adds explanations about digitalisation, loneliness, stress and convenience that the charts cannot establish. A clearer overview followed by accurate comparisons of the main categories would make the report more complete and better grounded in the visual information.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response contains relevant comparisons, but the ideas are not arranged into a clear report. Almost the entire answer is one long paragraph, and the opening sentence runs directly into a chain of claims joined mainly by “and,” “but” and “whilst.” This makes it difficult to distinguish the overview from supporting details or to follow the comparisons. The final sentences shift from chart description to opinions about technology and whether modern life is easier, without a clear transition or conclusion. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview and one or two paragraphs comparing the figures. Use linking expressions to show contrast and change, rather than connecting many separate points in a single sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “declination,” “digitalization,” “shortfall” and “reflection,” and the general topic is usually understandable. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural in this context: “beautifully showed” is not an appropriate way to describe charts, “declination” is less suitable than “decline,” and “ME time” is informal for an academic report. There are also spelling errors such as “digitilization” and “convinient,” alongside inconsistent forms such as “digitalization/digitilization.” Prefer precise, neutral terms for describing data and avoid interpreting the figures through emotive language. For example, describe a category as “accounting for” a percentage or say that its share “rose” or “fell.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to express several connected ideas and use some complex structures, but sentence boundaries and grammatical control are inconsistent. The opening has the article error “an working adult,” and “is beautifully showed” uses an incorrect verb form. The long sentence beginning “Working time is increased” combines many clauses without clear punctuation, making the relationships between ideas hard to follow. There are also problems with tense and agreement, including “life changes” in a past-time comparison and “technologies were not available which was a shortfall.” Use past-tense forms consistently when reporting the two years, and divide the discussion into shorter sentences. A mix of simple comparisons and carefully controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
