Student answer (Band 6.0)

Western-style dressing is becoming more popular in many countries while cultural clothing is decreasing in today's world. This revamping has affected individuals irrespective of age or background. From my perspective, the main reason for this is technology and modernization. This essay would support in favour of this trend and consider it to be a positive development.

Technology is the main cause of adopting a western style fashion in terms of dressing in different areas. The use of social apps viz instagram, facebook has inspired the people especially from the third world countries to follow this culture as those people idealise the developed western nation in each and every aspect. These social apps have diminished the global gaps in different ways. Moreover, young generation love to watch UK and USA based netflix series which in turn has resulted in change of their mindsets and they adore the dressing and fashion sense of actors and blindly follow them.

The seond main reason is the modernization. Western countries are considered to be modern and first world nations. Third world nations opt the trend to feel themselves to be devloped. Furthermore, people from all over the world choose the European or American universities to study and just not to be feel left out or odd one out they use these dressings to look alike those people.

In my view, this is the positive development as it has united the people from different parts and no one feels unsafe or neither anybody can bully others especially in the places where multicultural individuals are gathered. For instance in Australia, people of different ethnicities are living together but all of them are alike at workplace or tourist spots due to this trend. On the other hand, people also consider this dressing to be financially comfortable and easy as traditional ones require more embroidery or diffferent valuable items on them making them more expensive. So, it has also eased the financial stress

in conclusion, western culture has fulfilled the gaps

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: you explain the trend through social media, entertainment and modernization, and clearly state that you see it as positive. The examples of young people following actors and international students adapting their clothing are relevant. Your view that Western dress can help people feel included is also supported with an example from Australia. However, some reasoning is asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that similar clothing prevents bullying or makes people feel safe needs clearer support. The point about traditional clothes being more expensive is relevant but arrives late and is not connected clearly to your main argument. Develop these ideas with more precise explanation and examples so that all parts are addressed with similar depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two paragraphs explaining causes, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. The progression from technology to modernization is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “For instance” help connect points. At times, however, the links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. The paragraph beginning “In my view” combines social inclusion, bullying, workplace clothing and cost, so its focus shifts. The final sentence, “in conclusion, western culture has fulfilled the gaps,” does not clearly summarise your position or the reasons already discussed. Use topic sentences to keep each paragraph focused, and make references such as “this trend” explicit so readers can follow the argument smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “modernization,” “multicultural,” “ethnicities,” “traditional,” and “financial stress.” These choices help communicate the subject, and some less common expressions show an effort to be precise. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “adopting a western style fashion,” “idealise the developed western nation,” and “fulfilled the gaps.” There are also spelling errors, including “seond,” “devloped,” and “diffferent,” which reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for natural combinations and consistent forms—for example, “adopt Western-style clothing” and “bridge cultural differences”—and proofread carefully. This would make your meaning more precise and your vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “while,” “as,” and “which in turn,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, particularly with articles, verb patterns and sentence construction. For example, “the main reason for this is technology and modernization” would be clearer as “the main reasons are technology and modernization,” while “just not to be feel left out” has an incorrect verb pattern. In “no one feels unsafe or neither anybody can bully others,” the negative structure is not formed correctly. Punctuation and capitalization also need attention, especially in the final paragraph and the names of platforms and countries. Review these patterns and check each sentence for a complete, correctly linked structure.
