Student answer (Band 5.5)

It's becoming common thing that students are not willing to do study science at university in many nations. There are several reasons behind this problem and It's effect on the society will bring nothing but negative result. In this essay i'll explain it.

In many countries students are not selecting science to study at universtity. One possible reason is that they might be lost their interest in it because of their personal preferences. Another factor is that student may find study science quite difficult. As a result, they discouraged to choose it. What is more, by choosing study science at university, they might be found that science subjects career scope is limited. To cite an example, those whose major is biology more likely to be a biologist expertise in future and whose major is physcology, they can't switch to the biology.

There will be a negative impact on the society and university as well. This is because of their selecting subject process at university which will have impact on their career also. In addition, if they continiously doing it, the universities faculty of science will be dropped and they also get the poor quality education. Similarly, society also get a generation without doctors, engineers. As a result, government have to hire foreign skilled workers to do a national project which increase the expense in the projection budget. By not choosing science subject at university, create insufficient of skilled workers in science related field. On top of that, an emprical research conducted by south asian joint skilled workers shown that science related career and fields are facing scarcity due to not choosing bachelor of science which actually press the pressure on the society as whole.

To sum up, as many nations students are not choosing science to study. There many reasons for that which can also create a bad impact on society. So, I believe that to alleviate these kind of problem, goverment should take necessary steps and students also should aware of this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question: you suggest causes such as personal preferences, perceived difficulty, and limited career options, then describe possible effects including shortages of science professionals and greater reliance on foreign workers. These points are relevant, but they are often asserted rather than explained. For example, the biology and psychology comparison does not clearly show why science careers are limited, and the claim that universities will provide “poor quality education” needs a clearer link to falling enrolment. The position that the effects are negative is apparent, but the conclusion introduces government action without developing it. To strengthen the response, explain each cause-and-effect link and support key claims with specific, credible examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion. This helps readers identify the two parts of the task. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: several effects are listed in sequence without showing how they connect, and the final research claim is difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “As a result,” “Similarly,” and “On top of that” are used, but some connections are mechanical or unclear; for instance, “Similarly” does not establish a clear comparison between the preceding point and the claim about society. Improve cohesion by grouping related ideas, using clear references, and explaining the relationship between each point rather than relying mainly on transition words.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “personal preferences,” “skilled workers,” “career,” and “research,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “scarcity” and “projection budget.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning unclear. Examples include “do study science,” “career scope,” “get the poor quality education,” and “press the pressure.” Spelling errors such as “universtity,” “physcology,” and “emprical” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural academic collocations and check word forms and spelling. For example, “career prospects” is more idiomatic than “career scope,” while “place pressure on society” is clearer than “press the pressure.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “if,” and “as a result.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “they might be lost their interest,” “they discouraged to choose it,” and “government have to hire,” where the verb patterns or agreement are incorrect. The opening and conclusion also contain incomplete or awkwardly formed sentences. Work on building accurate basic clauses first, then combine them carefully; check subject–verb agreement, verb patterns after modal verbs, and sentence boundaries. More reliable control would make your ideas much clearer.
