Student answer (Band 5.0)

In most of the countries there are many students who are not choosing science for their furthur studies. There are many factors regarding this. In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate my answer and give reasons to support my stance.

In this situation, there are many reasons. From my personal point of view, I saw many students who choose arts subject because of their parents pressure but they have other plans. They want to choose anoter subject but there parents have wish that there child will study Arts and become artist. In this case, student loose his interest and he did't do well in exams. Secondly,In many cities the facility of university is not available. There are many students who wants to study but they can't and the reason is lack of government interest.

There are many harmful effects of this on society. Bad people prepare them and they are willing to to anything. They did many tasks that spread harmful effects on society. They destroy the peace of society. As we all know, humanity travel a lot once we herd the photographs mammonths in the caves of mountains and know we make a cup coffe by using technology and even we should buy anything by using computers we don't have to go anywhere. Also we have cure many harmful diseases and done a lot of research on outer space and other planets.

In conclusion, I think without technology our society is nothing our society went back to the time of ignorance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify two possible causes—parental pressure and limited university access—and you attempt to discuss effects on society, so the response is connected to the question. However, the causes are not consistently focused on why students avoid science: the example about parents directing children towards arts is relevant only if linked explicitly to science choices. The effects paragraph is especially unclear. “Bad people prepare them” does not explain a social consequence of fewer science students, while the later references to technology, medicine and space research suggest useful effects but do not clearly state how a shortage of science graduates would affect them. Develop each point with a direct explanation and a relevant example, and make your position clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs for causes and effects, and a conclusion, which gives it some basic organisation. Signposting such as “Secondly” and “In conclusion” helps readers recognise the stages of the answer. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow: the effects paragraph moves from “Bad people” to humanity’s history, coffee, computers, disease and space without clear links. Some connections are also unclear, including “In this case” and “Also.” Plan each paragraph around one main point, then explain it in a logical sequence. Use linking expressions to show cause and consequence rather than relying mainly on basic sequencing words.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “facility,” “technology,” “harmful diseases,” “research” and “outer space,” and these words show an attempt to discuss education and society. However, the range is basic and several choices or spellings make meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “Bad people prepare them” is unclear, and “humanity travel a lot” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “furthur,” “anoter,” “loose” and “coffe.” Choose precise terms for the effects of fewer science graduates, such as shortages of researchers or slower medical innovation, and check spelling and common word combinations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “There are many students who wants to study but they can't,” and the overall meaning can often be followed. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. Errors include subject–verb agreement (“students who wants”), verb forms (“he did't do well”), and articles or possessives (“there child”). Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: “They did many tasks that spread harmful effects on society. They destroy…” needs clearer separation, and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences with clear clauses and consistent tense.
