Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development is limited. While you identify reasons like the perceived difficulty of science and lack of interest, the explanations are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For example, the effect of a 'shortage of experts' is mentioned, but the societal consequences could be explored with more specific detail. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points discussed. To improve, ensure each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly links back to the prompt's requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Due this' and 'While, science stream remain' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack logical connections, such as the opening paragraph's structure. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'tough', 'easy', and 'subjects'. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'intrest', 'oppartunities', 'unemployement') and word choice issues, such as 'knowledge ratio' and 'under choosing', which are not standard English collocations. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and societal trends. Focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and practicing collocations to ensure your writing sounds more natural and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of students chooses', 'science stream remain') and article usage (e.g., 'during the covid pandemic there is huge demand'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'Because of they felt that science is tough'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for these common errors will significantly improve your clarity.
