Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: causes (ineffective education systems and financial barriers) and effects (shortage of professionals and limited career prospects). The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the mention of exam leaks in India is a specific example, but the link between this and a general decline in science enrollment could be more thoroughly explained. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To reach a higher band, ensure that the connection between the causes and the specific societal effects is more deeply analyzed rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally,' 'As a result of which,' and 'In addition' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'As a result of which genuine students suffer...' which is a sentence fragment. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas could be smoother to ensure a more natural reading experience. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and supports the logical development of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'higher education,' 'professionals,' and 'career opportunities.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'worst education system' (which is slightly informal) and 'loose' instead of 'lose.' The range of vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but it lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. Expanding the range of synonyms and collocations would improve the overall quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the globally recognised exams,' 'the failure of education system'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'students consider to study' should be 'students consider studying,' and 'its expensive' should be 'it is expensive.' These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on article usage and ensure that complex sentence structures are constructed with greater accuracy.
