Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt (causes and effects), but the development of ideas is limited. While you identify reasons such as financial constraints and interest, the explanations are brief and sometimes unclear, such as the mention of 'nets rate' or 'learny bindan'. The inclusion of a solution was not explicitly requested by the prompt, which asks only for causes and effects; adding it takes space away from developing the core requirements. To improve, focus on expanding your arguments with more specific examples and ensuring each point directly answers the prompt's questions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To commence with' and 'Nevertheless' used in ways that do not always logically connect the ideas. Some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical flow, particularly in the third paragraph where the connection between 'hurdles' and 'generational gap' is difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'engeneriy' for engineering, 'carpentery' for carpentry, and 'electrition' for electrician. These errors occasionally make it difficult for the reader to understand your intended meaning. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use more sophisticated terms accurately. To reach a higher band, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic and professional terms and try to use a wider range of vocabulary to express your ideas more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('parents should not able to', 'student not acquire'), incorrect verb forms, and missing articles. Sentence structures are often simple or contain errors that impede clarity. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are frequently faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that verb tenses are used consistently throughout the essay. Proofreading for basic punctuation and word order will also help.
