Student answer (Band 7.0)
Personally I think that this phenomenon is due to multiple factors with different origins. The first factor that I have been able to identify is the economic one: in many countries and for many families, studying at university is very expensive and, in numerous cases, it is an expence that can not be borne. Instead, families that have the financial possibilities, generally prefer subjects which can lead to stable jobs, such as doctors or lawyers. Even if a person, who has studied science at university, could find a job in some chemical and pharmaceutical industry, I feel that there are less opportunities for them in some countries.
In addition to that, there is another factor: the research. In many countries, scientific research and investments in that field are poor and there is a lack of strumentation and laboratory; this could make the scientific field less attractive for young students. A good example comes from India, a country who has a large number of qualified students that, however, decide to move to other countries just to have more job opportunities and stability. The effects that this phenomenon has on the society can be seen, as far as I know, in the quality of the research of a country and in the number of scientific discoveries that a country produce.
In conclusion I think that the cause of this lackness is due to a mix of factors, with difficult resolutions, but that should be a priority for every country to give a better quality of live to their citizens and to safe money from spending to foreign countries to ny medicines and scientific discoveries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed both parts of the prompt: the causes (economic factors and lack of research infrastructure) and the effects (impact on research quality and national development). Your position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that scientific research is 'poor,' you could have expanded on why this discourages students beyond just the lack of equipment. The conclusion is a bit brief and introduces new ideas about 'saving money' that were not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each cause and effect is supported by more detailed explanation or specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The first factor,' 'In addition to that,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from the economic factor to the research factor is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this phenomenon' which could be more precisely defined. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas clearly. You use topic-specific terms like 'pharmaceutical industry' and 'scientific research.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'expence that can not be borne' (expense), 'lackness' (lack), 'strumentation' (instrumentation), and 'ny medicines' (any). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of academic vocabulary and ensuring that word forms (e.g., noun vs. adjective) are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'a country who has' (which), 'number of scientific discoveries that a country produce' (produces), and 'quality of live' (life). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely cause confusion for the reader. Your control over punctuation is generally good, though some sentence constructions are slightly awkward. To move to a higher band, aim for greater accuracy in subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex structures are used with fewer slips.
