Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many countries not enough students are choosing to study science at university that is true.

I think science is more difficult than other subject .Basically For studying science need more and more concentration and hardwork. The main reason is hardwork which for students doesnt want choose science. They get easily good opportunities by study other easy subjects .And also by studying other easy or simple subjects they can enjoy their life and spent time on other activities or their hobbies. As my perspective this would be the main reason of quiting science by the students.Such as a science students life is all about study like they are fully busy on study ,notes, tution, classes etc.But on the other hand the students who choose other simple subjects they can spent their time in various activities and enjoy thier life also can explore many places which is the favourite things to do for genz.

I think it has both good and bad effects on society. As a good effect we can say that students are free to do many different things and also can easily get success by choose easy and simple suubject. Moreover as a bad effect ,science has a great role in our daily life.Without science the world cannot be imagined .Scince is the thing that is always should to be discover .It is really important to more and more students are study science and discover new things. So thats why that can be a very big bad effects which will face society fo this disicion of students

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt—causes and effects—but the development is limited. The causes are identified as the perceived difficulty of science and the desire for a balanced lifestyle, while the effects are briefly touched upon regarding societal progress. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth or specific examples. The argument remains quite general, and the conclusion is underdeveloped. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete examples of how society suffers when scientific innovation stalls, rather than just stating it is important.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or disjointed. While you use some transition words like 'Moreover' and 'On the other hand', the internal logic within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow due to fragmented sentence structures. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas lacks a smooth, cohesive thread. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one to build a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple adjectives like 'good', 'bad', 'easy', and 'simple'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'quiting science' instead of 'quitting' or 'disicion' instead of 'decision'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms. For example, instead of saying 'easy subjects', you could use 'less demanding academic disciplines' or 'humanities-based subjects'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'science need'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'Scince is the thing that is always should to be discover'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing around commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and article usage.
